To our colleagues in local community music:
To our colleagues in local community music:
To give some background; In 1974, Donald M. Gordon, Director
of Parks and Recreation for the newly amalgamated City of Brampton, met with
the local civic bands at the time to discuss and implement his vision of the
Summer Festival of Music. Centred on the new Band Shell built in the
middle of Chinguacousy Park, the Festival featured the Chinguacousy Concert
Band and Dance Band, Senators Drum and Bugle Corps, Brampton Citizen's Band,
and many other local groups. The season was a resounding success and
officially opened the Band Shell on Sunday, June 23rd, 1974.
The Chinguacousy Concert Band is proud to continue this
tradition and amazing vision from one of our City's great leaders. While
the band shell you will see is different from that of yesterday, the
unmistakable music of our fun-loving, dedicated and devoted Brampton musicians
survives through the ages.
This year we are proud to present the third edition of our
Chinguacousy Music in the Park concert series. The exceptional
environment and natural amphitheatre of one of Brampton's largest and well
known parks, as in the past, makes an ideal performance venue for attendance
from families and their friends across Brampton and beyond.
In association and cooperation with Chinguacousy Park and
the City of Brampton, we have the opportunity to once again fill the park with
music throughout the summer months; and most importantly, with a majority of
local Brampton musical talent. This location is the perfect venue for
your group to showcase their musical talents while contributing to our great
community.
It is our pleasure to invite you to perform in this
year's series, which will be once again presented on Sunday evenings throughout
the summer, starting at 6:30pm. As we anticipate that some Sundays may be
more preferential to each group than to others, please reply to us with two or
three suggested dates that could work for your group. As we begin to
receive replies we will allocate dates that are beneficial to all involved.
Reply with your preference to: info@chingband.com on or before Saturday,
April 27th, 2013
Once we have the dates assigned, we will send out detailed
information regarding the logistics of each weekend date to all of our
confirmed groups.
Thanks for your attention and I do look forward to your
participation in this year's concert series. Should you have any
questions at all, please feel free to contact us.
Best regards,
Al Bourke, President
