Christmas at the Rose

“Christmas at the Rose”
December 14, 2013, 8pm

With performances by the Brampton Youth Concert Band

and special guests:
The Mayfield Singers

with Narration by:
Joe Rose

Our 2013/2013 Rose Theatre Concert Series continues with our annual celebration of the Christmas season with “Christmas at the Rose” on December 14, 2013, 8 p.m at Brampton’s Rose Theatre.  Under the guidance of music director Vince Gassi, we are pleased to offer a fresh approach to a Christmas concert combining fascinating new music, traditional favourites and theatrical elements to express the spirit of Christmas.

The concert will intertwine the music with several narratives; the story-telling presented by local Brampton actor Joe Rose.

We are pleased to have the Brampton Youth Concert Band under the direction of Susan Barber Kahro perform with us.  This will be the first anniversary of their inaugural performance.

As our traditional guests, we are once again excited to have the “Mayfield Singers” Mayfield Secondary School under the direction of Brooke Taylor join us.

With its creative approach to the Christmas concert theme, exciting guests, thoughtful and highly entertaining music, theatrics and audience participation, “Christmas at the Rose” is an event not to be missed.  We hope to see you there.

Tickets may be purchased at the Rose Theatre or Lester B. Pearson box offices or by calling 905‑874-2800 or www.rosetheatre.ca.  Free parking is available below the Rose Theatre at the intersection of Theatre Lane and Union Street.  Ticket prices are: Adults $25, Seniors and Students $20 and Children 12 and under $15.

You can track with our organization and stay in touch with other upcoming concerts in our Rose Theatre Series by visiting our website, www.bramptonconcertband.com or following us on our Facebook fanpage: “Brampton Concert Band.”

A fabulous evening...

We thank, congratulate and cheer for the performers, participants and audience that came out to this past Saturday’s Brampton Arts in Bloom at the Rose. It was a beautiful experience that held promise. We can’t wait to see what else the future holds for this event and the arts community at large.

The City of Brampton Concert Band is pleased to offer a new music opportunity for Brampton, aimed at supporting our youth and helping them grow in the musical arts, in which they will enrich their musical growth under strong musical leadership, with challenging and wide-ranging music selections, varied performance opportunities and unique learning experiences through special guests and projects.
We are seeking students with some playing experience ideally at the Grade 8, 9 or 10 levels who wish to expand their musical skills and horizons, but are happy to consider any middle or early secondary school students who would like to participate in this new group.
To lead this exciting new band, we are very pleased to announce Susan Barber Kahro as music director.   We are certain she will bring the best out of the young musicians who will take part and give them a lasting and positive experience.  Members will have the opportunity to perform at The Rose Theatre, with the Brampton Concert Band, Gage Park and the Farmer’s Market as well as competing in MusicFest Canada.
Our first rehearsal is planned for Thursday September 20, 2012, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. in the Brampton Concert Band’s music hall located at 55A Queen Street East (old Carnegie Library at Queen Street and Union Street).
