The Rock School Singing To Support Music Therapy
“Music therapy is the use of music to promote, maintain and restore psychological, physical, emotional and
spiritual health,” says Alicia Leon, SickKids Foundation.
The Rock School’s Co-owner Andrea Gavrilovic has always shared her experience and admiration about
The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) with students and their families, only to realize that there are
many families that share their own touching stories and experiences at this amazing hospital. “I love
Christmas and I’m passionate about music,” says Andrea, “I wanted to use music as a tool to give a gift
back to SickKids.”
A joint effort from The Rock School’s Teachers, Students and guest musicians was made over the past 6
months to arrange, practice, record, produce and mix traditional Christmas songs to create “The Rock
School Christmas Album 2012”. A short-run of CD’s will be sold at The Rock School and it will also be
available for purchase on-line through Itunes. Proceeds from album sales will go to SickKids to support
music therapy within the Creative Arts Therapy Program. A personal donation page has also been set up on
the SickKids fundraising website where tax receipts will be issued accordingly.

Winter kick offs in Downtown Brampton
Jam With A Cause - A Joyful Night
The power of music changes life! Music happens in relationship. Studies show music has a powerful, biological influence on us. It heightens cognitive skills and has lasting effects on brain function for a lifetime. (Nina Kraus Ph.D. - Neuroscience at NorthWestern University.)
HGNO's mandate is to create mandates that help children, youth and young adult participants explore and discover their musical gift through training and experiences in composition, recording and performance.
We would like you to join us for an evening of live music and to consider giving to the cause as we continue to reach out into the community and make a difference in the development of participants who are young and possibly marginalized, yet energetic to explore music.
