CALL FOR ARTISTS/PERFORMERS! (Apr 2)

Habitat for Humanity Brampton-Caledon is having a dedication ceremony for one of its partner families on April 2, 2 – 3 PM, 20 Hoskins Square. They are looking for members of Brampton’s arts community to participate. Here are some ideas:
-       Perform a song as part of the ceremony
-       Write a song about home and family to be performed at the ceremony
-       Provide ambient music
-       Donate a piece of art to the family as a housewarming gift and be acknowledged from the podium for doing so.

riveredge CALL


riveredge - winter 2013
riveredge: a journal of arts and literature is calling for submissions.
riveredge provides a venue for writers and artists to celebrate the Grand River, its beauty,
history, people, and culture. Please submit all materials by September 30, 2013 for publication by
Christmas 2013. (Good Christmas gifts for all your friends.)
1. Topic: Occupation along the river.
2. Fiction, non-fiction, and poetry as well as black and white drawings, or photographic essays are welcome. One work of art in any medium and full colour will be chosen for the cover.
3. Text should be submitted, double spaced, with a cover page citing: genre, name, address, phone,
and e.mail so that all entries may be adjudicated blind. Leave no identifying names or addresses on the
 text itself. Maximum length for text submissions, 2500 words. The editors reserve the right to shorten or correct items after consultation with the contestants.
4. Visual art should be submitted in jpeg format.  Please consult us at   riveredge13@gmail.com
if you have questions about our capacity to view, download and/or print your submissions.

Call for Young Artists



Announcing an exciting opportunity for youth to express their creativity, win prizes and have their videos digitally projected on city hall, Kitchener. Open to youth, ages 12-25. Winners will get cash prizes. Finalists will get great exposure, the videos will be projected on 'The Cube' atop Kitchener City Hall using state-of-the-art Christie Digital projectors.Submission deadline: June 14, 2013

Call for Musicians

Downtown Guelph is seeking submissions from musicians and entertainers interested in performing for our 2013 Noon Hour Concert Series, staged every Friday from June 7th to September 13th in St George's Square. 

 We welcome interest from groups and individuals from all genres of music, and are aiming for talent that is marketable to the global audience present during the noon hour. Additional musicians will be sought this season for Fourth Fridays, a burgeoning Downtown Guelph event which embraces creativity, community and performance on the fourth Friday of each month.

This is an excellent opportunity to participate in highly regarded local events.


Friday Noon Hour Concerts are a long- standing tradition of the Downtown Guelph Business Association (DGBA) whose intent is to enliven and pay tribute to our downtown community by showcasing local and regional talent. Artists are chosen by committee and are paid for their performances. Instruments, all sound and technical equipment are the responsibility of the artists. Power and shelter are supplied by the organizer. Each concert is a rain or shine event.

Spark Box Studio's Winter Residency & Emerging Artist Award

2013 Winter ResidencySpark Box Studio's 2013 Winter Residency Open Call is now accepting applications from national and international artists at all stages of their career. Each year we are excited to invite a new group of artists into our space. Here artists will be given the time and space to network, research, experiment and built their artist practices. Focusing on your art career at a quiet, self-directed residency is a great experience and what better place to do it than surrounded by the rural Ontario countryside.

Emerging Artist Award:
Beginning your career as an emerging artist can be tough, which is why Spark Box Studio is offering FREE RESIDENCIES to fine art students and emerging artists. This residency opportunity is a unique way for young and emerging artists to cultivate new ideas, access a rich library of arts resources, learn about career-building opportunities, and develop an understanding of the art world from a business perspective.
Six emerging artists will receive a one-week (7 days) residency at our studio in Prince Edward County. The selected applicants will be given a private studio space and given access to the Spark Box Studio equipment and resources, as well, winners will be provided with living accommodations for their week-long stay. They will also have access to career guidance from owners Chrissy Poitras and Kyle Topping, along with, local community members.

The winter residency award runs from February 1, 2013 to April 30, 2013. Please be advised that the award is for 7 consecutive days.

Applying for the Residency Award gives artists the opportunity to practice an essential business skill in the art world: the application process.
