Make Your Pitch Deadline: March 28, 2014!

Make Your Pitch, the Government of Ontario and Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), are pleased to be bringing back the Young Entrepreneurs, Make Your Pitch high school competition.

The competition challenges students in grades 9 to 12 to pitch their business ideas in a two-minute video to be voted on by the public and expert judges. Finalists will receive a trip to Toronto (including transportation and hotel for the finalists and chaperones) to present their ideas in front of a judging panel at OCE’s Discovery Conference and Trade Show on May 12-13. Six winners will then be selected and will be presented with a reserved entry into Summer Company to develop their business idea (worth up to $3,000).

This year’s competition is run by OCE on behalf of the Government of Ontario and presents an exciting opportunity for high school students to learn about the benefits of a career in entrepreneurship and of starting their own business. Student participants will also receive expert guidance on pitching a business proposal.

PAMA's new website & more!

PEEL ART GALLERY, MUSEUM AND ARCHIVES
LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE AND TRY IT FOR $20 PROGRAMMING

BRAMPTON, ON (Aug. 29, 2012) – The Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) has launched their new website at pama.peelregion.ca.  Visitors to the new website will notice a fresh look, as well as many interactive features.

Aimed at making their experience more engaging and user-friendly, visitors can now:
·         View and register for PAMA programs available for the whole family
·         Learn about upcoming events
·         See highlights from the collection online
·         Access information on renting PAMA spaces, booking a tour, and more

The new website also has interactive games designed for kids to learn about art and culture.  Featuring Wellington the raccoon and Coco the jailbird, the online games are both fun and educational.  This new website is part of the rebranding of PAMA and reflects the look and feel of the renovated complex.

“We are thrilled to have the new website online,” said Claire Loughheed, Manager, PAMA.  “The design has gone through many evolutions and we feel it truly reflects our new operation.”

The website was designed by e-Solutions, a company known for its innovative web-based services.

“The website is user-friendly,” continued Loughheed, “which is especially important since we are also launching our new series of Try it for $20 programs that will start on Oct. 1 after the opening of the Art Gallery on Sept. 30.”

PAMA offers a number of arts and culture programs for all ages throughout the year.  As an introduction to PAMA’s programming, they are offering a special Try it for $20 deal. This deal gives people an opportunity to try any program from Oct. 1-Dec. 31, at a cost of just $20. This is an excellent way to see the new PAMA facility, try out an interesting program and discover everything PAMA has to offer.

PAMA is a place for children and adults to explore and learn about Peel’s culture and heritage.  PAMA offers a variety of workshops and programs for all ages.  Family-friendly activities and free drop-in workshops are also offered throughout the year.

The Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) is making history this year through a $16-million restoration and construction project that commenced in 2010 to enhance the land and buildings that hold the Region of Peel’s museum, archives and art gallery. When PAMA re-opens, there will be expanded exhibition space and state-of-the art collection storage.   PAMA will re-open in three stages, with the Art Gallery opening on Sept. 30, the grand opening on Nov. 24-25, and the Family Day and Archives opening on Feb. 18, 2013.

The Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) collects, preserves and displays art, artifacts and archival documents significant to Peel’s culture and heritage. Operated by the Region of Peel, PAMA is located at 9 Wellington St. E. in Brampton. Visit pama.peelregion.ca for more information.

What we keep tells a story

The Art Gallery of Peel, Peel Heritage Complex, is pleased to announce the launch of Passages an exciting interactive website: http://www.peelregion.ca/heritage/passages . We all keep reminders of our past. The Passages web project invites everyone to share the story attached to the objects they have kept. Visitors to the site can upload their own photo and story, and view the evolving Gallery of submissions. Through these stories will emerge a collective history that reflects the diversity of our communities today, and illustrates what we share in common.
